This morning I headed down to the radio shack to work the CQ WPX CW contest. I had some contacts on 20 meters, then out of curiousity I switched up to 15 meters. It was basically open to US call areas. Then went to 10 meters to find CW contest exchanges. Then I got on 6 meters and found life. Finally the band was open! A couple of CW signals around 50.05 then went up to 50.15 +/- to find phone QSOs. I called a 5 station in New Orleans, and he returned to me with a S8 report. My first 6 meter contact! I was operating on the TS-690S with 100W to a 40 meter dipole with a 1.5 SWR reading. Then I worked another 5-lander. After a while the band died. I'm glad I was there to catch the opening on the Magic Band.
